What is Reiki? Reiki is a Japanese stress relief and energy healing technique involving light touch. This style of Reiki originated in Japan in the late 1800’s by Mikao Usui.  Similar to a massage, the client will lie on a table fully clothed and have energy work done to front and back of body, with focus on any areas needing additional attention from past or present trauma.

What are chakras? The main chakras are seven energy centers in your subtle body that affect your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. Chakras are often blocked, overactive or inactive. We will work to awaken and align the chakras through meditation, light touch, essential oils and sound. By aligning the chakras, energy flows more freely to bring peace and balance.

Full series + Reiki session: $175

Full series without Reiki session: $125

Weekly drop-in (no series commitment):  $20/class

fresh PERSPECTIVE WORKSHOP V I N Y A S A F L O W - M E D I T A T I O N - B U S I N E S S T H I N K T A N K
11:00 AM11:00

Women’s workshop

A women's circle is a safe and sacred space for women to come together, use their voices, be heard and be seen. Women throughout history have gathered in circles to empower each other and share wisdom.

Life and business are not meant to be done alone.

Join us in a workshop that turns down the volume on the stuff that distracts us, calms the nervous system and invites us to move out of our head space and gain new perspectives from each other and the purer, more honest parts of our ourselves to move through issues in life + work.

The workshop will begin with an All LEVELS Vinyasa Flow 20 min Followed by mini round table / think tanks where each person presents to the small group a single issue or struggle they are currently working through and each person gives advice and feedback to find solutions and direction.

We conclude with guided mediation + offer time to journal. “…our forefathers and Mothers did know a thing or two. There is increasing evidence to support the notion that journaling has a positive impact on physical well-being.

(regular journaling strengthens immune cells, called T-lymphocytes.” )

Yoga + Meditation lead by Kristen McQuaide 500 RYT + Owner + Director of The Space Yoga Studio.

Round Table Facilitated by executive Business Coaches Angie Low + Kelsey Low.

Sweet Surrender to Summer Workshop

Yin Yoga Thai Massage Raw Juice

Please join 500 RYT Yoga Instructor Kristen McQuaide + Certified Massage Therapist & 200 HR Yoga Instructor Errin Hurtado for an afternoon of soft surrender + sweet release of physical and emotional body.

This workshop begins with an awakening of your parasympathetic nervous system by connecting to ourselves in silent mediation. Followed by Pranayama , Breath work to flush the Nadi channels and bring balance to the two sides/personalities + five senses of the body. Then we’ll slip into the slow cool flow of Yin Yoga Asana.

All of this space creation in the soft connective tissues will be followed by deeper body work in the form of Thai Yoga Massage.

We will meet in the temperature controlled cool low lit subtle space -smaller studio.

Yin Yoga class lead by Kristen McQuaide

Thai Yoga Massage by Errin Hurtado.

Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice.

Thai Yoga Massage Intuitive Thai body work done by Errin Hurtado

Thai massage is traditionally performed on the floor -- you lie on a padded mat as the masseuse guides you through partner yoga poses and manipulates your body into stretches. Some traditional massage techniques, such as acupressure, compression and joint mobilization, are also used, but no lotions or oils are applied and you remain fully clothed for the session.

Followed by Raw Juice

Raw, defined. Raw is any food, or juice that was never altered from its original form, as in cooked, heated, or steamed. They rock it naked, straight up, vulnerable and raw. Authenticity is so sexy.

Not many people know or understand what color therapy, also called chromotherapy, is all about. Simply put, it is a holistic healing modality that incorporates different colors in an attempt to positively alter our emotions, moods and overall wellbeing.

Color, which is a type of visible light, also contains electromagnetic energy. Every color seen in the rainbow contains its own special healing property.

Even the Sun and Moon have healing qualities to them. There are many people throughout the world who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and find solace through the use of a sun lamp or other such device that mimics the healing properties of the Sun.

Every single cell in our bodies need light energy in order to grow and survive. Color energies therefore affect our whole body.

A color therapist uses certain tools and/or visualization techniques and suggestions to apply color to our bodies in an attempt to heal those parts of our bodies suffering under physical, emotional, or spiritual strain.

Acro Yoga Workshop
11:00 AM11:00

Acro Yoga Workshop

Please join our kind and strong guest Teachers; Jameson Henkle + Kellee Dorhman for a wildly fun and fantastic adventure on your mat for Acro Yoga.

What is Acro Yoga:
Acro Yoga. AcroYoga is a practice that blends the wisdom of yoga with basic partner acrobatics, physical conditioning, and basic thai massage techniques. ... AcroYoga is designed to increase strength, flexibility, coordination, and sensitivity in a safe and progressive way

Acroyoga is pretty impressive. Just take a look at some of the routines all over YouTube and Instagram, and you might start feeling a little bit overwhelmed. Not to worry, though—there are plenty of ways for beginners to practice acroyoga.
Acroyoga is a combination of acrobatics and yoga performed between two partners. One partner is the base while the other is the flyer. The base supports the flyer in a series of movements that combine balance, strength and acrobatics.

You might wonder for what reasons, other than fun, you would want to partake in this kind of yoga practice. Here are a few of the benefits that acroyoga can give you.

Core Strength
Acroyoga isn’t easy. It requires a lot of core strength, and will help you develop that strength if you currently lack in that area. Whether you’re a base or flyer, you will need a lot of core strength to keep yourself or your partner balanced in the air.

“In order to hold many acroyoga poses or move through many acroyoga combinations, it is necessary to move fluidly from one ‘tight’ stabilized core neutral position to the next,” writes Health & Fitness Advisory. “Think fluid movements to planks in different position with a partner added in the mix.”

Kinesthetic Awareness
By practicing this unique form of yoga, you’ll develop an awareness of your body and its position in space that’s difficult to learn from other pursuits. You’ll need to use proper technique in order to complete the movements without you or your partner falling or breaking form.

Muscle Building
The core isn’t the only part of your body that gets extra attention when you practice partner yoga. You’ll also build muscles in the legs, arms and chest by holding another individual over your head, or by keeping your body taut as you fly through the air. As a result, you’ll get a body-building workout that is sure to make a difference in your physique over time.

Of course, like all forms of yoga, stretching is a big component of acroyoga. This is especially true for the flyer, who may be doing extensions of splits poses or backbends once he or she reaches an advanced level. Even at the beginning stages, though, your partner can apply gentle pressure in ways that will enhance your stretch.

In addition to the physical challenges of acroyoga, there’s also a therapeutic aspect. Acroyoga’s second component is all about giving and receiving loving-kindness. Instead of a flyer and a base, partners divide up into Givers and Receivers. The Giver moves the receiver in various ways in order to give him or her a sense of kindness and groundedness.

Like all forms of yoga, acroyoga is multidimensional and requires lots of time and dedication. Even if you’re new to the practice, you’ll get to experience many of these health benefits while developing trust and companionship with your partner.

Self Care Workshop

Self Care Workshop

Today's mini-retreat will offer some insight into the causes and symptoms of vicarious trauma.

We will use Creative Journal and Expressive Arts techniques to explore our own awareness, needs, and strategies to increase our satisfaction as helpers and in life.

We will finish with a fun and gentle yoga practice to send you into the evening feeling relaxed and energized!

This mini-retreat will be lead by Ashley Smith:

Ashley was introduced to yoga through a college course in 1999, at the same time she began working with adolescents in residential care. The coincidence of these two experiences has shaped the way she provides care to clients, coaching to parents, and lives her life. After completion of an MS in Clinical Psychology from CalPoly San Luis Obispo in 2006 she began working as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, specializing in early trauma. Her yoga practice continued to evolve over this time, Ashley maintained a home practice of sitting meditation and Kundalini Yoga until moving to San Luis Obispo in 2003 when she met Peter Sterios founder of LEVITYoga. She resumed a regular Kundalini practice in 2015, and in 2016 began serious training as a yoga teacher; completing a 200 hour LEVITYoga Teacher Training in 2017. Ashley is passionate about using neuroscience, creative expression, and yoga in combination to provide holistic and empowering strategies for healing in the therapy room and on the yoga mat.

Learn  Lightness     Practice  Lightness

Please join Kristen McQuaide for a Weekend Workshop of Inversions + Arm Balances:
Two Days $90.
Saturday Workshop TheorY + Practice 11:00 - 1:30 PM
Sunday Practice 12 - 1:30 PM
The class will include elements of what we learned on Saturday, but all levels are welcome to drop in.

You can drop into either day drop in $50.

Inversion can be empowering postures that teach us not only about our inner strength, but about our innate playfulness, courage, and our ability to create lightness in space.
Fear of the unknown can be a big obstacle that stands in the way of trying these invigorating and beneficial inversion poses. This workshop will slowly and precisely guide you through preparatory poses of classical inversions and teach you how to develop the strength and confidence to attempt more challenging poses.
In this workshop, we will also explore multiple variations of classic inversions such as headstand, forearm balance, pincha myurasana, and handstand. Exploring transitions to challenge your balance and preconceived notions of your own limitations. This class will be lighthearted and structured to allow you to playfully push the boundaries of your practice.
You’ll learn techniques to use mindfulness and ease as you turn your world upside-down!

All levels welcome that already have a practice and understanding of yoga asana for at least 3 months.

Workshop Saturday March 25th 11:00-1:30pm

Sunday Practice 12-1:30

Both Days Investment $90.

Day Drop In Investment $50.

Saturday Link/Both Days

All forms of the asana practice are variations of moving meditation. Using elements of vinyasa flow, paired with arm balances and inversions, we link our breath with movement giving ourselves acute focus on the present moment and freeing ourselves from distractions of the past and future. Join Kristen in this fun but challenging flow class where you will use your breath, mind and body to flow through surya namaskars, strong standing postures, arm balances and inversions, (learned in the workshop 3.25.17). Yogis should expect to sweat, work hard, learn a few things and more importantly, feel good while enjoying their practice. All levels welcome!
