Today's mini-retreat will offer some insight into the causes and symptoms of vicarious trauma.
We will use Creative Journal and Expressive Arts techniques to explore our own awareness, needs, and strategies to increase our satisfaction as helpers and in life.
We will finish with a fun and gentle yoga practice to send you into the evening feeling relaxed and energized!
This mini-retreat will be lead by Ashley Smith:
Ashley was introduced to yoga through a college course in 1999, at the same time she began working with adolescents in residential care. The coincidence of these two experiences has shaped the way she provides care to clients, coaching to parents, and lives her life. After completion of an MS in Clinical Psychology from CalPoly San Luis Obispo in 2006 she began working as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, specializing in early trauma. Her yoga practice continued to evolve over this time, Ashley maintained a home practice of sitting meditation and Kundalini Yoga until moving to San Luis Obispo in 2003 when she met Peter Sterios founder of LEVITYoga. She resumed a regular Kundalini practice in 2015, and in 2016 began serious training as a yoga teacher; completing a 200 hour LEVITYoga Teacher Training in 2017. Ashley is passionate about using neuroscience, creative expression, and yoga in combination to provide holistic and empowering strategies for healing in the therapy room and on the yoga mat.
